The Hiša Franko is deeply connected to the traditions and nature of the Soča region, where the stunning beauty of the mountain world complements the harshness of life. Their cuisine is based on seasonal gifts of nature, such as cheese, cottage cheese, meat, game, trout, forest fruits and wild plants.
They collaborate with local cheesemakers, farmers, hunters, gatherers and fishermen, who preserve the traditions of the high mountain pastures above Kobarid and Tolmin. In this environment, where time seems to have stopped, they create dishes that express a deep connection with the place and the people.
The restaurant offers one tasting menu. Each meal lasts approximately 3 hours.
The Franko House is intended only for people over 12 years old.
Hiša Franko first made it onto the prestigious list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2017, although its story goes back more than half a century, when Franko Kramar served his famous roast beef and frika in the inn.
In June 2020, in the first edition of the Michelin Guide for Slovenia, the restaurant received two Michelin stars and a green star. In September 2023, Hiša Franko reached an extraordinary milestone by gaining three Michelin stars, while also retaining the green star.

Ana Roš is a self-taught chef who does not follow any specific cooking style. Her cuisine is based on the environment that provides her with natural ingredients and an endless source of inspiration. It is a reflection of herself – her impressions, travels, memories and personal inspirations.
Circumstances unexpectedly directed her life path from diplomacy to gastronomy, where she created her own, recognizable style as a self-taught chef.
Ana Roš is known for her expressive, intense and unconventional cuisine, which is based on a simple philosophy – follow nature. She uses seasonal ingredients, combines unexpected flavors and influences from different parts of the world and is not afraid to take risks.
When you visit her restaurant, the most important thing is to relax, enjoy and leave aside any possible prejudices. When she has the freedom to express her culinary vision and unique terroir, Ana creates true culinary magic.

The restaurant works closely with local producers and uses fresh, seasonal ingredients. Wild herbs, plants and mushrooms are taken care of by their own forager, who regularly supplies them with the gifts of nature. Endangered Soča trout often appears on their menu, while seafood depends on the season. Meat and dairy products are mostly from high-mountain pastures, and for vegetables they cooperate with a local farm in Kolovrat.

AFTER THE GOURMET DAY
Our modern apartment complex comprises 4 buildings and offers 19 above-standard apartments in which tradition and comfort join hands. Our accommodation offers excellent opportunities to relax after an active day:
- whirlpool and sauna,
- massages in the apartment,
- rental of sports equipment (including hiking poles and electric bicycles),
- help in organizing additional activities
The apartments are designed with respect for the pristine nature of the Triglav National Park and the cultural heritage of the local environment. They are characterized by spaciousness, brightness, carefully selected natural materials and top-quality equipment in a modern Alpine style.
