Head high above the Soča Valley and discover a living tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries. On the idyllic Zaslap Mountain Pasture below the mighty Mount Krn, you will experience the authentic cheese-making process and taste the pristine nature of the Julian Alps.
During this exclusive 4-hour workshop, you will transform into a true cheesemaker. Under the guidance of a master, you will make your own wheel of Tolminc cheese from fresh milk. After completing the work, a well-deserved shepherd’s lunch awaits you with frika, polenta, and local wine, accompanied by wonderful views of the Soča Valley.

- Guided tour: Visit to a traditional Alpine dairy and aging cellar at 1,400 m above sea level.

- What to bring: Sports or hiking footwear suitable for high mountains, a windbreaker, and good spirits. Tarpaulin for protection during the workshop is provided.

Approximately 1 hour walk from the Kuhinja parking lot to the Zaslap mountain pasture. Access possible via road or mountain trail.
The pasture is accessible by e-bikes.
Zaslap is the highest mountain pasture at the foot of Mt. Krn.
You can combine your visit to the pasture with an ascent to Mt. Krn (2,244 m), which offers an exceptional panorama.
Check Hop-On options via the Municipality of Kobarid for access to the Kuhinja pasture.
A Neolithic circle is located right next to the Zaslap pasture.
Three types of mountain cheese produced on the Zaslap pasture are also available at cheese tastings in Tolmin.
