Virje waterfall, 20m wide and 12m high, gracefully descends into a tranquil lake surrounded by vibrant greenery. Although diverted for a power plant, it remains one of Slovenia’s most enchanting waterfalls.

The path from the Bovec golf course to the Virje waterfall
We drive towards the Bovec Golf Course, which can be reached by turning left from the main road at the sign for the golf course on the way from Bovec towards the village of Podklopca. We leave the car in the parking lot at the golf course and start our trail here.

At the reservoir lake
We continue along the road that leads to the village of Plužna, and then, after crossing the stream, we turn left onto the forest path at the sign for the Virje waterfall. We continue the path through the forest until we reach the Plužna reservoir lake. After visiting the lake, a short climb up the slope awaits us, then we reach the macadam parking lot for the Virje waterfall. From the parking lot, go down the slope in the direction indicated by the sign in the parking lot and after only a few minutes you will reach the waterfall. After visiting the magical waterfall, we turn around and head back along the same path to the parking lot.
