CANYON UČJA – ON DIFFERENT WAY
DISCOVERING THE UČJA RIVER CORD
Walking along the Učja Gorge is a perfect experience in the Soča Valley for nature lovers!
The activity is suitable for anyone who would like to experience the beauty of the canyon just by walking and swimming (if you want, we can also add some jumps to make the trip more adventurous).
Our fun excursion will take place in the last gorge of the Učja river. We will start where Globoški potok ends. Učja ends her independent journey in the Soča River. We also leave the car here and start the adventure.
A 30-minute panoramic hike with a view of the Učja valley awaits us to the entrance point to the canyon. Before entering the canyon, we put on our gear. The guide will provide you with all the information to make you feel safe in the canyon. Excitement grows as we finally enter the river. Can you already feel the cold water in your shoes?
Canyoning in the Učja canyon mostly consists of walking along the riverbed. In some parts we encounter rapids, which we carefully avoid. On the way down, your gaze stops at the high vertical walls of the gorge and the stunning untouched jungle-like nature. The emerald pools invite us to join the fish swimming in them.
We end our 10 km long journey where the Učja river ends. We drive back home together, reminiscing over and over again.

It is suitable for anyone who would like to soak up the beauty of the canyon just by walking and swimming.
The river Učja originates in Italy. When it crosses the border, it enters a narrow and deep gorge, which is impassable by the water. The river has created 5 gorges, the longest one measuring 5 km, and the area is rich with a multitude of wonderful natural phenomena, which are the result of the action of ice and snow or are karst or of water origin.
The lower gorges are visible from the bridge on the road Bovec – Žaga and are only 500 m away from the mouth of the Učje into the Soča. Endangered animal species take refuge in the Učje river valley. Visit the valley of the Učje river along the path along the left bank of the river or along the road Žaga – Učja, which leads from 10 to 100 m above the river.
