In addition, all our trips include the services of Mikaela with professional photography, who takes your experience with beautiful shots and shares them with you upon your return.
Walk through wildflower meadows, along rivers and valleys, explore secret swimming pools or simply spend time in nature. Our easy hikes are designed to give everyone access to some of the amazing places in the Soča Valley.
SOČA RIVER
Explore the banks of the Soča River, find secret corners for refreshment, study the beautiful wild flowers and immerse yourself in the rich nature of the valley, with incredible views of the surrounding mountains.
Duration: half or full day available.
THE ZADNJA TRENTA VALLEY
A journey through the wide valley of the Zadnja Trenta, from the Soča source to the hidden waterfall nestled at the end of the valley. The valley is surrounded by impressive peaks and breathtaking views in this natural amphitheater.

SLEMENOVA ŠPICA
A perfect summer or autumn trip with a short climb and a breathtaking plateau with alpine meadows flanked by dramatic peaks.
Duration: Approximately 3-4 hours (6KM with 620m ascent)
Other options are: Boka waterfall and surroundings, Možnica gorge, Mountain Mrzli vrh, Kozjak waterfall and surroundings, Zadnjica valley, Virje waterfall and a walk in nature.
A combination of valleys, passes and saddles, these hikes will take you higher into the mountains, to incredible viewpoints, remote places and offer you the chance to find alpine flowers and animals that thrive in hard-to-reach places.
KRN LAKE
Pass through the shady forests at the end of the Lepena Valley and climb up to a beautiful mountain pasture that meanders to reveal the perfect blue water at the end
Lake Krn. After a picnic and a stop for
refreshments in a picturesque mountain hut
we will descend back to our starting point.
Approximately 10 km with 822M of ascent/descent.
KRASJI VRH
From the lookout saddle that leads to the historic shepherd’s settlement, we will gradually climb through the forests. Before we rise above the forest line, we will be greeted by a panoramic view towards Krn and the surrounding mountains and valleys.
About 10 km with 800 meters of ascent/descent.
ZADNJICA VALLEY
A perfect summer circuit through pastures bursting with the colors of wild flowers, past beautiful streams and up the valley to a beautiful saddle before descending over the steep side of the gorge.
Approximately 13 km with 1020 m ascent/descent.
Other options are: Matajur, Gorčica, Veliki Babanski Skedenj, Planina Golobar
Get up early in the morning to explore mighty peaks, hard-to-reach places and incredible scenery, when we go to the upper regions of the Julian Alps. Our challenging hikes are ideal for anyone who wants long days in the mountains. Although these hikes do not include technical mountaineering equipment, may include small sections of fixed cables, screes and routes that require careful positioning of hands and feet.
KRN (2244M)
From picturesque mountain lakes, rare screes, mountains and vistas, this hike covers it all. Besides incredible natural attractions, Krn is also known for its place in military history, with visible memories from the 1st World War.
Approximately 10 km with 822M of ascent/descent.
SVINJAK (1653M)
The Bovec Matterhorn, Svinjak is known for its long ridge that climbs through the forests from the valley floor. With some challenging and steep sections, this route rewards you with panoramic views of the Soča valley and the surrounding peaks.
Approximately 8 km with 1226 meters of ascent/descent.
NAKLO PEAK (2000M)
For solitude and a whole day in the mountains, Vrh Naklo is one of the most beautiful peaks in Bovec. At just over 2000M
it is part of a longer ridge that leads to Rombon and rises above the Gorčica plateau.
Approximately 14 km 1600 m of ascent/descent.
Other options are: Laška Planja (2448M), Čisti vrh 1875M), Travnik (2256M)

VALLEY OF ZADNJA TRENTA
This incredible valley is one of the most beautiful snowshoeing destinations in the Soča Valley. Suitable for complete beginners, where we will spend our trip in the company of the surrounding peaks and exploring the varied fauna that makes this special area their home.
Perfectly balanced at the top of the winding Vrsič pass, we will be the starting point for explorers of the results of a mountain adventure with wonderful views and a selection of cozy mountain huts that serve delicious traditional food.
Note: This tour is only available when the road up is open.
MANGART SADDLE
This trip will take us to the highest horizontal road in Slovenia, which is closed to vehicles in winter – towards Mangart. The route will take us through tunnels carved into the mountains and up onto a vast snow-covered plateau leading to stunning views of the wide Mangart Saddle, with dramatic mountain scenery surrounding us.
Other options are: Zadnjica, Vrsnik, Matajur, Krasji Vrh, Planina v Plazeh, Lepena, Krnsko jezero, Loška Koritnica.
WINTER EQUIPMENT
You do not need to have winter experience to snowshoe. Everyone can decide on a trip, as only they will always be adapted to your needs. We have a range of ticks to suit everyone and are ready to show you how to adapt them for your adventure. We can also provide you with hiking poles if you do not have them.
But if you want to get the most out of your trip, you’ll need a few basic pieces of gear:
- Comfortable waterproof hiking boots with warm hiking or ski socks;
- Waterproof trousers;
- Waterproof jacket;
- Warm fleece, jacket and spare warm layer;
- Cap, gloves and spare parts;
- Long sleeve base layer T-shirt (avoid cotton);
- Warm hiking pants or thermal leggings;
- Sunglasses and sun cream;
- Water, snacks and hot drink;
- Personal medicines;
- A backpack with your personal belongings.
Many of our trips include lunches in mountain huts, and for our more remote trips we can also take care of your lunch. It is also possible to prepare a hot lunch on the way.
PRICE: from 140 EUR
All our hikes are planned based on conversations with guests, with the route
designed around you to help deliver an amazing experience.
For our easy hikes you will need comfortable sneakers or walking shoes and a small backpack.
For moderately difficult hikes you need sports shoes or hiking boots, and for challenging hikes you will need comfortable hiking boots with good grip.
Walking poles are recommended for everyone.
The price depends on the route, activity and number of participants and includes transportation and drop-off for up to 4 guests. For larger groups please contact Mikaela for more information.

YOUR GUIDE: MIKAELA
Mikaela is an international mountain leader, photographer, British climbing instructor and qualified secondary school teacher. She is also the founder of ‘More To Explore’ in Slovenia!
After many years of exploring Slovenia, hiking, snowshoeing and climbing, she and her partner Zlatko moved with their young family from their home in Wales to a small scattered settlement in Geopark Idrija in 2021.
Her latest project, More to Explore, is focused on enabling adventure, travel and positive engagement with nature using hiking, snowshoeing, skill development and creativity to promote growth, understanding and connection with self, each other and the natural world.

After many years of exploring Slovenia, hiking, snowshoeing and climbing, in 2021 Mikaela moved with her young family from her home in Wales to a small scattered settlement in Geopark Idrija.
Mikaela brings decades of experience in outdoor education, photography and as an expedition leader to More to Explore. After training and interviewing future leaders and designing and coordinating complex outdoor learning programs, More to Explore is built on carefully crafted foundations.

AFTER A DAY IN THE MOUNTAINS
Our modern apartment complex comprises 4 buildings and offers 19 above-standard apartments in which tradition and comfort join hands. Our accommodation offers excellent opportunities to relax after a day in the mountains:
