TO THE BEAUTIFUL FALLS
Zapotok waterfalls are located on the Suhi potok stream, which originates on the Zapotok mountain. The largest of the waterfalls is up to 73 meters high and falls in two strands.

TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS
The trail starts at the parking lot in front of the cottage at the source of the Soča River. From the parking lot, we continue along the road, which is closed by a gate, in the direction of Bavški Grintavec. We continue slightly to the left along the road that runs along the bed of the Suhi Potok, and to the right the path leads to the Zavetišče pod Špičkom and Jalovec. We walk along the mentioned road for a while, and then the path crosses the mentioned stream. We have to be a little more careful when crossing, as the track is not visible here. On the other side, we can see a wooden post with signposts.

On the other side, the gently sloping path first leads us past a few private houses and then goes through the forest on the left side of the stream for a while. In the following, we will also notice a lot of fallen trees along the way, which are the result of avalanches. A little later, the path leads us to a marked crossroads where the marked path continues to the right towards Planina Zapotok and Bavški Grintavec. Here we leave the mentioned path and head left, where the signs for Zapotok waterfalls direct us. From the crossroads, we continue along the flat path and then cross the torrent’s stream. The path then takes us into the forest, where we continue along Suhi potok. Here the path goes to the left above the stream, but later it descends to the stream and brings us to a less visible crossroad.

A path leads further along the stream bed to the first waterfall, which is about 15 meters high. After visiting the waterfall, we return to the aforementioned crossroads and cross the stream to the other side, where we can see some cairns. The path takes us back into the forest and turns to the left. Here we start to climb more steeply and soon we reach the first waterfall, which can be seen from the viewpoints along the path with some caution. We continue through the forest and from the path we can see two more small waterfalls with a pool.

Soon we also reach the next slightly larger double waterfall. Here you can also go down to the riverbed and see the mentioned waterfall up close.
After visiting the waterfall, we return to the well-trodden path and continue climbing through the forest. When we reach the mentioned double waterfall, the path soon turns to the left and descends to the bed of the stream. At the point where we descend towards the stream bed, the path also branches off to the right, which leads to the viewpoint from where the largest waterfall can be seen. The mentioned path becomes very difficult to be seen further on.
In the following, we walk completely along the stream and later cross it to the left, where we will again notice a well-trodden path. Here we also have a view of the mighty upper waterfall, which splits into two strands about halfway down. The trail soon ends and if we want to climb to the pool below the upper waterfall, we have to continue along the stream bed. This is possible only when there is not much water in the stream. Even in this case, the last ascent is very demanding and takes place on slippery rock.
After this trip, we can visit the source of the Soča in the same day, as we have a car parked in the immediate vicinity.
