If you love hiking, then you’ll be happy to know that the most famous, picturesque and popular hiking trails in Slovenia go right past Residence Soča. The village of Soča lies among some 2,000-metre high mountains of the western Julian Alps, right beneath the mountain ridge that starts with Mount Svinjak to the west, extending through the 2,347-metre high Mount Bavšica Grintavec to the north all the way to Palec above Zadnja Trenta. Soča is a perfect starting point for conquering mountain peaks and for hiking adventures of any level. Passing through our front yard are in fact many a trail that people choose for longer hiking challenges.

The Soča Trail – discover the most picturesque spots of the Triglav National Park

If you wish to get to know the Triglav National Park better, we suggest you take the charming trail along this emerald beauty that will seduce you with its sublime views from its mysterious source all the way to the town of Bovec. With the help of information boards you will be able to learn more about the characteristics of this protected alpine area, which will bring out your inner child as you cross picturesque bridges over the limpid river. Along the way, you will see an old tree rising from a rock in the middle of the river, which the locals call “the never thirsty willow”, you will enjoy the pleasant smells of the blooming meadows and wonder at the beauty of small and large river pools.

In the summer, you can simply jump on a bus to the source of the river and then hike to Residence Soča. Here you can regain your energies with a warm meal and then continue your adventure to Bovec. The Soča Trail is 25 km long, and will take you approximately 7 hours from the river source to Bovec. Once in Bovec you can take the bus again, and you will be resting in the comfort of you apartment in no time.


The Peace Trail – along the memories of the Soča Front

Among the paths that are close to us is the Peace Trail that leads all the way to the Adriatic Sea. Take a walk along a piece of history left by the notorious Soča Front. The trail will take you past forts and bunkers, monuments and cemeteries that sill clearly outline one of the most infamous fronts of World War I. Enter this time machine and discover this part of history step-by-step.


From the glacier to the sea along the Alpe – Adria Trail  

We invite to take a break in the comfort of the Triglav National Park all those who may be on a life journey and have embarked on one or all 43 stages of the 750 km long trail connecting the Adriatic Sea and the Austrian Grossglockner mountain, the breathtaking Alpe – Adria Trail. The Alpe – Adria Trail runs along the Soča Trail through Trenta and all the way to Bovec, and you can take on a special challenge by going in the opposite direction.  The 23rd stage of the trail will take you over Vršič, the highest mountain pass of the Julian Alps, to Kranjska gora on the other side. This stage is 20 km long and can be made in just over 8 hours. We will help you prepare for the challenge and will be cheering for you to conquer it. You can then take a bus in Kranjska gora to get back home to Residence Soča.
